manka's inverness lodge

we just booked a february weekend in tahoe like true east bayers. the thought of a weekend away got me thinking about all the beautiful places in the area to visit. (including mendocino county, thanks to the bestest todas ever). when we were wedding location hunting last year we fell in love with manka's inverness lodge - sadly, the main boat house doesn't have capacity for my enormous irish catholic family.

the rustic, quiet feel and beautiful landscape captures a northern california weekend through deep reading chairs, expansive fireplaces, vintage deep claw-footed tubs, wood beamed ceilings and soft light.

manka's collection of cottages each have their own deck/porch and entrance, immersed in the woods and on the shore of the tomales bay (not far from all the yummy oyster shacks, including nick's).
this picture does not do the bathrooms justice. they are stunning. outdoor shower, hell yes.

I adore the orange chairs. We visited on a grey day in December, the orange against the overcast sky created a striking impression.
erin, you know you are getting the new england vibe from this fishing lodge wonder. move here. be one of us. do it.
